PERFORMANCE TASKS OVERVIEW
Performance Task 1. Individual Task: Use the black keys on a piano and make three patterns. These patterns should repeat several times each, and should include rhythms and melody that you imagine help to convey a ‘feeling’, ‘a mood’, or a ‘character’. Add a left hand ostinato or drone to your patterns.
Performance Task 2. Drum Circle.
Performance Task 3. Group Task: Using Percussion instruments can you create a feeling of ‘Tension’, ‘Excitement’, ‘Anticipation’, or ‘Fear’?
Tip: How can you use Dynamics and Tempo?
Tip: sometimes people listen more when it is quiet and when patterns are slow.
Tip: People tend to get excited when music slowly gets faster and louder.
Tip: People are generally surprised by sudden sounds.
