We came out of Covid-19 and started a class project: we researched ways to inspire our community to overcome adversity using music. Then we found & studied some epic rock concerts. When we found Queen's performance at live aid in 1985...this set in motion a discussion about how to use music to say something with a powerful message! How to inspire peace (imagine), how to go for victory (We are the champions), and how to be amazingly awesome (We will rock you)... So... naturally this led to a Battle of the Bands competition!! 10 band's competed. 160 students participated by choosing their songs, creating the arrangements, and choosing their role: boomwackers to bass guitar, Keytar to guitar, congas & cajons, shakers and synth, keys and ukulele, costumes, xlophones, singers and dancers, tambourines and smoke machines. Very exciting way to end the year!
